K. Williams

Since I travel for work, I decided to try an audiobook to listen to during the time I drove. I picked Scandalous, by LJ Shen.

Scandalous is an excellent read and I wouldn’t expect anything else from LJ Shen. The hotholes are a group of ruthless men who take care of the people they love, and Trent Rexroth is one of them.

Edie is the troubled daughter of Jordan Van Der Zee. She chooses not to live off of her father, instead doing what she needs to do to get by.

When Jordan blackmails Edie with the one thing she cares about most in this world, she must comply with his wishes.

Sparks fly the second Trent and Edie meet and you need to read the rest to see what happens. I do strongly recommend this book. It’s awesome!

Now, back to the audiobook portion of this review. Although it was convenient to have the book read to you, hearing the people who read their voices takes away from the story to me. When I read, there’s a whole world in my head and it includes how each character sounds. It also takes away some of the imagery for me.

I was still deeply involved with the story, but the whole picture just wasn’t there for me. I did end up reading the book myself after, because of course I have to buy the book also.

All in all, it was a good experience, but not something I would make a habit of.
